Mach-Einstein Drive

I have a new article up at ECN Magazine on experiments testing out the possibilities of a Mach-Einstein Drive. I call it: Maching Einstein.

Why is this important? If the experiments work (and even if they don't) we will learn more about how our universe is constructed. If they do work we can get propulsion without having to build huge rockets. Earth to Mars travel in a few days would be a definite possibility. If it works really really well faster than light speed travel is a definite possibility.

Is it at all possible that the theory is right, the effect is detectable but the economics is still uncompetetive with conventional rockets due to energy requirements? Certainly it would still be a fascinating discovery but my too-good-to-be-true instinct has been working at the high power setting since hope and change came to town.

And I don't mean that Hopey-Changey is too good to be true or that his policies are. They are all just dreadful enough to be perfectly real but when rainbow-pooping unicorns are being promised by the US president it is hard to believe in any optimistic scenarios.

I have looked at some of the Newtons/watt numbers of rockets and other propulsion sources and they are in fact pitiful.

If this effect works it wouldn't take much to match what we currently have.

If this device can do 100X better than current sources - science fiction her we come.

And yeah. Hopey changey gives me a sinking feeling every time I wake up.
