A Little Science Advice

John Holdren, Obama's Science Adviser has some advice for curing the ills of the globe and especially America.

• Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not;
• The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation's drinking water or in food;
• Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise;
• People who "contribute to social deterioration" (i.e. undesirables) "can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility" -- in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized.
• A transnational "Planetary Regime" should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans' lives -- using an armed international police force.
It is all laid out in John's 1977 book Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment.
But what's especially disturbing is not that Holdren has merely made these proposals -- wrenching babies from their mothers' arms and giving them away; compelling single mothers to prove in court that they would be good parents; and forcing women to have abortions, whether they wanted to or not -- but that he does so in such a dispassionate, bureaucratic way.
Ah shades of Margret Sanger and the Eugenics movement. She was somewhat popular in the USA but the place where they really took this kind of thinking to heart was Germany in the 1930s and 40s. Do we really want to go there? Is this President ∅'s plan? He hasn't said. I guess we will have to watch and wait.

Here is an article about Sanger that is really disturbing.
...Dr. Harry Laughlin, another Sanger associate and board member for her group, spoke of purifying America's human "breeding stock" and purging America's "bad strains." These "strains" included the "shiftless, ignorant, and worthless class of antisocial whites of the South."

Not to be outdone by her followers, Margaret Sanger spoke of sterilizing those she designated as "unfit," a plan she said would be the "salvation of American civilization.: And she also spike of those who were "irresponsible and reckless," among whom she included those "whose religious scruples prevent their exercising control over their numbers." She further contended that "there is no doubt in the minds of all thinking people that the procreation of this group should be stopped." That many Americans of African origin constituted a segment of Sanger considered "unfit" cannot be easily refuted.
It might be a very good idea to keep an eye on these folks. They may not exactly have our best interests at heart.

Heh, the problem with this way of doing things is the timing involved, and the necessity of "cutting" both ends of the curve : for every baby you kill this way, you have to kill 2 older people, or it won't work. Any forced abortion policy is the natural result of socialism, or, at least, somehow it's managed to permeate just about every socialist state. In the end, it's really a consequence of the tendency for population growth every earth species has.

But it also takes 20 years to take effect in humans. 0-16 year olds aren't heavy criminals, nor workers, nor academics, nor politicians, so it won't reduce crime until 16 years after, it won't reduce unemployment, it wont't ... It won't reduce anything but the most trivial of costs until 20 years pass.

It is also a necessity of any socialist state. Since growth is not an option for a socialist economy, it cannot possibly be expected to take care of growing numbers of people. So you need reproductive "barriers", and if the state does so, it means preventing reproduction with guns.

However any forced abortion or other birth control measure needs to be taken 20 years before the situation turns critical in order to have any effect at all.

Worse : this policy obviously makes it beyond difficult to keep older people alive. If you kill babies, you have less workforce, and more (relatively) older people. So if you kill babies, you need to kill older people to. "Forced euthanasia" (ie. murder or gericide) is a necessary component of this policy.

However, America will not survive 20 years of Obama policies. It will, in fact, be lucky to suvive 4.

You should also not kid yourself. This policy is an implicit part of capitalism. The only difference with socialist policies is that it will occur later, and without the use of force. But capitalism will (eventually) do the same, if it can't be avoided, which is a possibility.

Of course, every second you delay policies like this provide more time to find a way to make them unnecessary. The last way we found to make them unnecessary was oil, but that created only a delay, and we're about 40-60% or-so through the delay oil caused.

As long as the economy keeps growing "at a healthy rate" (which certainly means higher than inflation), capitalism won't resort to this. Of course socialist economies cannot grow, even theoretically, and have to be very lucky indeed to remain a constant size, so they cause the immediate necessity of these policies.

Aren't you leaving out the empirical fact that the richer the population the lower the reproductive rate?

Or the fact that socialism in rich states suppresses reproduction below replacement rates?
